珠寶之于女人,就如同鐘表之于男人,一個(gè)用來裝點(diǎn)女人的氣質(zhì)和典雅,一個(gè)用來提升男人的氣場和品味,其閃耀是任何人都無法抵擋的致命誘惑。

要追蹤珠寶的動(dòng)物奇遇記,還得從傳奇的珠寶品牌卡地亞說起。起初,路易·卡地亞用一些小型的石頭雕塑制作了一些裝飾性的動(dòng)物作品,以全新的手法來詮釋世紀(jì)初由俄羅斯設(shè)計(jì)師法貝熱所創(chuàng)造出的微縮世界,展現(xiàn)一個(gè)更加豐富多彩的大自然。

成語是人們長期以來習(xí)用的、形式簡潔而精辟的定型的詞組或短句。不少成語都蘊(yùn)藏了豐富的生物學(xué)知識,將適當(dāng)?shù)纳锍烧Z引入課堂,不僅豐富課堂內(nèi)容,更能加深學(xué)生們對生物學(xué)知識的掌握,現(xiàn)列舉一些反應(yīng)生物種間關(guān)系的成語。

1.螟蛉有子,蜾蠃負(fù)之——捕食

該成語出自《詩經(jīng)·小雅·小宛》。螟蛉是一種綠色小昆蟲,蜾蠃是一種寄生蜂。古人誤認(rèn)為蜾蠃喂養(yǎng)螟蛉為子,常把螟蛉比喻為義子。其實(shí)不然,蜾蠃常捕螟蛉為食,并以產(chǎn)卵管刺入螟蛉體內(nèi),注射蜂毒使其麻痹,產(chǎn)卵在它們體內(nèi),待卵孵化后就拿螟蛉作為食物。不難看出,該成語反映的是不同生物之間的捕食現(xiàn)象。值得注意的是,蜾蠃只是螟蛉的擬寄生者,它們不是真正的寄生關(guān)系,因?yàn)檎嬲募纳呤遣灰运拗鳛槭车摹?/p>

2.螳螂捕蟬,黃雀在后——捕食和適應(yīng)的相對性

《韓詩外傳》卷十中記載:“螳螂方欲食蟬,而不知黃雀在其后,舉頸而欲啄而食之也。”螳螂全身綠色或土黃色,頭呈三角形,前腿呈鐮刀狀,活動(dòng)靈敏自如,能出其不意地捕食蟬。然而有時(shí)螳螂?yún)s顧此失彼,樂極生悲,在其身后的黃雀對之虎視眈眈,隨時(shí)可美餐一頓。螳螂依靠其身體的優(yōu)勢輕易地捕食蟬,這是生物對環(huán)境的適應(yīng)。螳螂在捕食蟬的同時(shí),也被黃雀捕食這正是適應(yīng)相對性的最好體現(xiàn)。此外,螳螂吃蟬,黃雀捕食螳螂,這也反映生態(tài)系統(tǒng)中的各生物之間的食物關(guān)系,屬于食物鏈的一部分。

3.鵲巢鳩占——競爭

《詩經(jīng)·召南·鵲巢》有“維鵲有巢,維鳩居之”的記載,說的就是該成語的本義:喜鵲的巢被斑鳩占據(jù)了。這兩種生物相互爭奪資源和空間等的現(xiàn)象叫競爭,競爭的結(jié)果可向兩個(gè)方向發(fā)展:一種完全擠掉另一種;通過地理隔離,各占有一定的空間。鵲巢鳩占屬于競爭中的第一種情況。

4.癬疥之疾(纖芥之疾)——生物的寄生

此成語用來比喻不在意的小問題或無關(guān)緊要的小毛病。其實(shí),從生物學(xué)的角度看,癬和疥皆為皮膚病,其對人體的危害是不可輕視的。

癬是皮膚感染霉菌后而引起的一種疾病,霉菌主要侵害皮膚、毛發(fā)和指(趾)甲。依據(jù)發(fā)病部位可分為頭癬、手癬、足癬、甲癬、體癬等。這些癬比較頑固,治療起來非常麻煩,給患者帶來很多痛苦。此外,癬還具有一定的傳染性,它可通過直接或間接接觸傳染給他人,也可在自身蔓延。

疥瘡是由疥蟲引起的傳染性皮膚病,多發(fā)生在手指間、手腕、肘窩、腋窩、腹股溝等處,呈針頭大小的水瘡和丘疹。患疥瘡的人常有劇烈的瘙癢感覺,特別在夜間更甚,搔抓后極易感染,會引起膿皰瘡、淋巴結(jié)炎等疾病。雖“癬疥之疾”,也不可輕視。

5.相依為命——生物的共生

現(xiàn)代漢語成語詞典解釋為:互相依靠著過日子,泛指互相依賴。其實(shí),動(dòng)物和植物間也存在著這種微妙關(guān)系,生物學(xué)上稱此為共生現(xiàn)象。例如,海葵常固定在寄居蟹的外殼上,當(dāng)它靠刺細(xì)胞防御敵害時(shí),能對寄居蟹起到間接的保護(hù)作用。而寄居蟹到處爬行,可使海葵得到更多的食物。再如,在巴西的叢林中生長著一種蟻棲樹。這種樹樹干高大,有節(jié),葉片呈掌狀,外形像蓖麻。蟻棲樹因棲息螞蟻而得名。樹上棲息的螞蟻叫益蟻,益蟻能群起攻擊專吃樹葉的嚙葉蟻,從而保護(hù)了蟻棲樹;而蟻棲樹葉柄基部叢生細(xì)毛,細(xì)毛中常分泌含有豐富蛋白質(zhì)和脂肪的類似物質(zhì),供益蟻食用。

2006年10月15日在美國佐治亞州召開的美國神經(jīng)科學(xué)協(xié)會年會上,一些研究人員公布的研究結(jié)果表明,自殺的人顯示其大腦中有明顯的變化,這種變化是獨(dú)立于他們所患的其他精神疾病,也就是說自殺并非是其他精神疾病的結(jié)果,而是自身的結(jié)果。

長期以來,對自殺存在著一種解釋,認(rèn)為是其他精神病癥引起患者自殺,典型的是抑郁。比如,一些人處于抑郁狀態(tài),然后越來越抑郁,到最后無法控制自己時(shí),就結(jié)束自己的生命。

但是,紐約的布朗克斯退伍軍人事務(wù)醫(yī)學(xué)中心的研究人員史蒂拉?德拉切娃進(jìn)行的研究有可能改變這種抑郁誘發(fā)自殺的解釋。德拉切娃和其同事查驗(yàn)了22名自殺死亡者和82名其他原因死亡者的大腦中血清素的細(xì)胞表面受體。眾所周知,血清素與抑郁相聯(lián)。而德拉切娃等人檢測的血清素是一種獨(dú)特的5羥色胺受體形式,稱為5-HT2C,而5羥色胺受體有24種不同的類型。

德拉切娃等人發(fā)現(xiàn),在大腦的高級功能區(qū),如進(jìn)行思維的一個(gè)區(qū)域,自殺者的背外側(cè)前額葉區(qū)出現(xiàn)了高水平的5羥色胺受體,不論自殺者是否患其他精神疾病,還是根本就沒有精神疾病。盡管大多數(shù)自殺者也同時(shí)患有其他一些精神疾病,如雙相性疾病――抑郁或精神分裂癥,但是也有少量的自殺者僅僅只感到有壓力。

當(dāng)然,德拉切娃等人坦承尚不能確定大腦中的這種變化是自殺的誘因,抑或是自殺的結(jié)果,但他們的研究提示一些處于高危自殺的人是由于其大腦結(jié)構(gòu)或化學(xué)物質(zhì)產(chǎn)生了變化。

而紐約州立精神病學(xué)研究所的米赫蘭?巴卡里安進(jìn)行的研究卻是另一種結(jié)果。巴卡里安在自己的一項(xiàng)研究中發(fā)現(xiàn),自殺者大腦的參與控制攻擊性和其他情緒的區(qū)域――顳葉前部的杏仁核較之其他原因死亡者有較低密度的血清素受體。對此結(jié)果,巴卡里安的解釋是,大腦中的這種差異很有可能原因在于大腦攻擊性系統(tǒng)的改變。精神病學(xué)的一些研究也發(fā)現(xiàn),富于攻擊性與自殺相聯(lián)。這也可能是處置自己生命的人不能夠支配指向自己的攻擊性沖動(dòng)。
